About Mrs. Southern California United States
What makes you a role model?
I believe that in being a role model you have to be aware of your actions at all times, holding yourself at the highest standards and am both friendly and approachable enough to talk to others about anything. I am human so I make mistakes and my dreams include being the best mother, wife and activist and to me that is being a good role model to both people that come into my life as well as my own family.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time with my seven year old daughter. She is at such an amazing age where we can go shopping together, or walk to the park and play or go out to lunch and actually enjoy each others company. I also love to go for a walk or a run with my dogs, taking time in the morning is a great way to start the day. I feel blessed that we live in Southern California and have weather that allows us to spend more time outside than in.
What is your favorite family tradition?
I love getting together the night before Christmas with my family and just spend time together. With busy lives we all really enjoy the time we can spend as a family. The other tradition that I can’t live without is my dad’s ‘Last flight of the turkey’ on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning. He ‘flies’ the turkey around the house waking everyone up around 5:30. He has been doing this for as long as I can remember and I just love it.
How do you plan to make a difference with your platform?
As an Army wife with a husband that is currently deployed in Iraq and friends that are deployed in or have recently returned from both Iraq and Afghanistan I realize the reality of loss in our military. Once a service member has been killed in action their families face so many changes and need support. The Got Your Back Network helps link these families together to help and support each other. The families of our fallen have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and our fallen military should be saluted.
What is something few people know about you?
I am a TOTAL and complete clutz! I have more scars from tripping over my own two feet than anything else but I embrace that about myself. I am completely silly. My daughter and I love to be silly and dance in the living room to the ending music of The Imagination Movers on Disney. It’s our little morning thing we love. It starts off both of our days with a giggle. My husband and I pretend we are on Dancing With the Stars waltzing and doing the samba in our living room.
